Inclusion Mela: A Journey Towards Inclusive Education

The side event hosted by DLearners under the C20 Education and Digital Transformation banner titled “Inclusion Mela: A Journey Towards Inclusive Education” took place on April 19 at St. Francis Hall, Stella Maris College, Chennai. The event was inaugurated by chief guest Mrs. Poongothai Aladi Aruna, Ex-Information and Technology Minister, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.

Dr. Ruth, Secretary of Stella Maris College, delivered the presidential address. The CEO of Vanguard Logistics, Micheal Gommes, graced the occasion. The distinguished guests appreciated the effort taken by DLearners and its contribution to society. They highlighted the importance of inclusion and addressed why schools must adopt the DLearners School program and emphasizing the importance of early identification and providing interventions.

Over 285 people attended the event. The attendees included school principals, teachers, educators, and students from various schools and colleges. The Inclusion Mela also featured various activities, including a theatre act, a flash mob, and a storytelling session by Mrs. Janaki Sabesh, an actress, storyteller, and author. These activities created an immersive and engaging environment for attendees to interact and discuss various inclusion and learning differences issues.

The students of Stella Maris College organized cultural events like flash mob and skit. An expert panel discussion on the theme of inclusion was organized. The panelists were Ramalakshmi, Founder of Elina; Ganana Jyothi, Principal of AA Public School; Deepa Arjun, Special Educator, PSBB; Manasi Naga Valluri, CEO, Manas Learning; Hannah Shirley, Research Scholar, SRM University; and Dr. Alima Zehra HoD Dept of Psychology, CTTE College. Subha Chandrasekar, Academic Director, DLearners, moderated the session.

The Inclusion Mela encapsulated the essence of the C20 tagline #YouAreTheLight. Experts and participants could exchange ideas, learn from each other, and network with like-minded individuals to celebrate the spirit of inclusivity and the importance of Education in promoting a more Equitable and accessible Society.
