G20 Conference on Crime and Security in the age of NFTs, AI and Metaverse

Under India’s G20 Presidency, the conference was held to promote global cooperation in addressing emerging digital and cyber challenges. The event was organized by various Indian ministries, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and Ministry of External Affairs, along with international bodies like Interpol and UNODC.

During the conference, C20 Principal Coordinator Amb. Vijay Nambiar presented on the current state of cybersecurity and cybercrimes, focusing on the civil society perspective and the impact of emerging technologies. The importance of civil society organizations (CSOs) acting as a bridge between the government and the ground level impact was highlighted. The concept of collective responsibility and the initiatives of the TST working group, such as the Global Leadership Initiative on Digital Ecosystem for Society (GLIDES), were also discussed.

The working group emphasized the need for enhanced cybersecurity measures, particularly in the digital marketplace, and stressed the importance of strengthening international collaboration in cybersecurity. They expressed their enthusiasm for participating in similar enriching events in the future.
