The launch of these campaigns in Uttar Pradesh aims to address various societal issues and promote positive change within communities. These campaigns were curated by the C20 working groups under the guidance of Sri Mata Amritanandanmayi Devi, Vice-Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and the Chair of the Civil 20 engagement groups (C20).
999 challenge comprises 9 rounds of Surya Namaskar along with 9 minutes of world peace meditation (devised by Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi) for 9 days. The idea behind this challenge is to promote the holistic wellbeing of the children from an early age, so that they can stay physically, mentally and emotionally healthy. This campaign has gained national recognition and has been successfully implemented in various states across India, including thousands of schools in the national capital of Delhi.
The Gender Equality campaigns consist of (a) Taking a pledge for Gender equality (b) Formation of C20 human logo (c) Online nomination of one or more people who have made difference in terms of gender equality & women’s empowerment. This campaign is aimed at uniquely promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, thereby creating an awareness regarding these issues among the masses, especially among the youth.
The global seedball campaign consists of making seedballs and dispersing them in forest areas. This is a unique campaign to help create more green cover on earth, and also to promote awareness about climate change and net zero targets. The campaign has already reached 100 locations in 11 states, distributing 500,000 seed balls. This also helps to foster a deeper bond between students and nature, and help to inculcate an environment-friendly culture among the students.
All these C20 campaigns emphasize that compassion and respect for others must be at the center of global governance for sustainable growth and development. Highlights from some of these campaigns will be showcased in the final summit at the end of July 2023 in Jaipur.
