On June 25th, 2023, an insightful C20 Education and Digital Transformation event took place in Atlanta, organized by MA Centers, Vibha, and the Indian Consulate in Atlanta. With over 100 participants in attendance, this event aimed to discuss the future of education and bring together renowned speakers and dignitaries.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the start of a transformative journey aligned with the YouAreTheLight C20 theme. Consul General Dr. Swati Vijay Kulkarni delivered an inspiring inaugural address, setting the stage for the following discussions. Br. Ramanandamrita Chaitanya, Director, M.A. Centers, sensitized the audience about the significance of G20, C20, and the Education and Digital Transition Working Group.
The panel discussion, skillfully moderated by Vijay Vemulapalli, co-founder of Vibha, focused on the digital transformation of K-12 schools. Esteemed speakers including Dr. Jagdish Sheth from Emory University; Dr. Revi Sterling, Senior Technical Director of Digital Inclusion at CARE; Ms. Julie Brennen, a member of the Board of Directors for Mentor Me Program North Georgia: and Ms. Erin Littles, the Board Secretary for Montessori Partnerships of Georgia, shared their invaluable insights.
During the panel discussion, the speakers delved into various topics, such as the impact of technology on teacher-student interactions, the emergence of new opportunities in teaching and learning, and the necessary safeguards during this transformative journey. A significant emphasis was placed on improving foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) in public education through digital transformation. The speakers stressed the importance of ensuring grade-appropriate learning levels and highlighted the role technology plays in achieving this objective.
