Presence of the EDT Working Group at DEWG

A five-member delegation representing the Amrita-led Civil 20 Education and Digital Transformation Working Group (EDT WG) and Technology, Security and Transparency Working Group (TST WG) were present at the first Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) meeting hosted by the Ministry of Electronics Information Technology at Lucknow from 13-15 February 2023. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Shri. Yogi Adityanath; Union Ministers Shri. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey; Union Minister of State, Shri. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, and Shri. Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa, were some of the eminent guests and speakers. 

In addition to G20 members, the event included guest countries and international organisations such as UNESCO, the OECD, and international telecommunications firms. The primary goal of the G20 EDT WG group meeting is to facilitate collaboration among G20 digital economy countries in promoting global digital transformation through the development of interconnected, protected, safe digital technology in order to develop an inclusive, resilient, sustainable digital economy and the importance of digital skilling. 

Shri. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, stressed the growing importance of making the internet safe and accountable to citizens, as well as digital skilling for future generations. This G20 meeting is critical because delegates will deliberate on digital public infrastructure and cyber security in the digital economy. 

Cutting-edge, digital initiatives developed and designed at Amrita University, like Medical Simulations and Virtual Reality, Online Labs for Schools, Amrita Rural India Tablet-enhanced Education, and VR and Wearable Haptics based Scaffolding Simulator were only display at the ongoing exhibition. Several top-ranking government officials, foreign delegates, representatives of organizations and universities, including students and professors, school students, and members of the public, visited the stall.
