One Million Lights Campaign Launch: GED
Celebrating International Women’s Day
by launching the One Million Lights Campaign on March 8, 2023.
The C20 Working Group “Gender Equality and Disability”, invites all to participate in our worldwide campaign to commemorate women’s empowerment and promote gender equality.

Nominate a Light.
Nominate one or more people (e.g. mother, father, teacher, friend, colleague), organisations (e.g. civil society organisations, non-government organisations, educational institutions), or initiatives (e.g. communities, projects). Tell us how your nominees made a difference in your life or someone else’s in the area of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
One Million Sparks of Light.
Each nomination will be represented as a spark of light on a digital global map, symbolizing the spread of collective efforts and illuminating the way towards progress. Selected stories will be exhibited to the global community through the C20 platform. Your nominees will receive a note of gratitude to inform them that they have been a light in your life.
Bright Intentions.
The campaign is being launched on March 8th, 2023 at 6 pm IST, International Women’s Day, during an online event with renowned Indian and international speakers.
By the time of the main C20 Gender Equality & Disability Working Group event on the 22nd and 23rd of April in Odisha, we hope to have collected one million nominations and display the lights in the shape of the C20 logo.
By highlighting these stories and encouraging individuals to get involved, the campaign aims to create a ripple effect of inspiration and positivity to make a real difference in the world.
The One Million Lights campaign is a powerful reminder of the impact we can have on others to create a brighter, more positive future for everyone. At the same time, it empowers us and helps us to recognize our own potential.
