One Health is a holistic approach to health issues, mainly communicable diseases,  that acknowledges the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health. It addresses a variety of challenges, including food and water safety, pollution management, mitigating antimicrobial resistance, and preventing the spread of diseases between animals and humans.

The World Health Organization (WHO) established the One Health Initiative to integrate efforts and promote collaboration among organizations, such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).

One Health relies on cross-sector and cross-discipline collaboration, including the public health, veterinary, and environmental sectors, to effectively address health concerns at the human-animal-ecosystem interface.
